The Honourable Artillery Company

Strange that this army unit isn't "Royal", especially since their Captain General is the Queen herself. But, as they are the oldest regiment in the British Army, they might be allowed some idiosyncrasy. This castle like building is in the heart of the city, on City Road near London Wall.

HAC are a TA regiment now I believe. They've got the most amazing central London location with a big field completely surrounded by office blocks on which I've played rugby against HAC (and generally lost).

The army isn't Royal since Cromwell's time I believe when the army sided with the parliamentarians. When the monarchy was re-established control of the army was kept with parliament as a check on royla power.

I suppose they give tours of the place - I do wonder what she looks like inside!

They might be upset that you've misspelled the name!

The grounds of the HAC were used as the site for the temporary mortuary after the 7/7 bombings. And that's all I know about the place.

That's a fine looking building. It really suits its purpose as a military building. It shows strength and honour.
