Abandon Sheep!

This odd remnant of what must have been a grand building is just behind Devonshire Square in New Street. No idea why it is here, but it looks older than the surrounding area, for sure.

I agree with CornishCockney--I loved the little surprises and details of London and can't wait to visit again.

It is Grade II listed, but the listing records don't give much away. http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/resultsingle.aspx?uid=1194082 "Gateway to No 21 ... Mid C19. Stuccoed archway with pairs of rusticated Doric pilasters supporting entablature. High blocking flanked by consoles, supporting figure of ram."

Is it related to the East India Company or Port of London Authority warehouses nearby?

The building behind, in its heyday, was a wool wharehouse
